Cattle numbers in Ukraine down 0.7%, pigs 8.6%

Cattle numbers in Ukraine excluding the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, part of the ATO zone, as of August 1, 2017 amounted to almost 4.255 million animals, which is 0.7% less compared to early August 2016.

The State Statistics Service said the number of cows dropped by 2.3% to 2.134 million.

The number of pigs decreased by 8.6%, to 6.893 million, sheep and goats grew by 1.2%, to 1.685 million animals.

The number of poultry grew by 1%, to 237.314 million birds.

As reported, with reference to statistical data, cattle numbers in Ukraine in 2016 amounted to 3.675 million animals, which is 2% less compared to 2015, the number of pigs fell by 5.5%, to 6.689 million, poultry by 0.8%, to 202.447 million birds, sheep and goats by 1%, to 1.312 million.
