On October 27, the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board approved composition of information on breeding animals and selection achievements to be exchanged between the Eurasian Economic Union Member States.

The decision determines the list of data on breeding animals or a batch of pedigree stock moved between the Union countries, their productivity, origin, breeding value, place of birth, available genetic diseases and other necessary information.
In fact, these data are an electronic pedigree certificate and contain all the information required for including into national information systems in the field of livestock breeding and further selection and breeding activities.
The second data section contains information about breeds, types, lines and crosses of farm animals bred in the Member States, their productive qualities, breeding farms-originators, developers, information about approbation and the approbating authority.
"The adopted document will enable unifying, improving the quality and securing additional guarantees of the reliability of information about breeding animals moving between the Member States, raise awareness of agricultural producers about breeds, types, lines and crosses of farm animals being bred in the EAEU territory. This, in turn, will facilitate direct purchase of pedigree stock without any middlemen, push up sales and increase production in the livestock sector," - noted Artak Kamalyan, Member of the Board - Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture of the Commission.
After the document comes into force, the Member States’ authorized authorities in the field of livestock breeding will exchange information on breeding animals being moved between the Union countries as well as selection achievements existing in the Member States as part of the general process (and prior to its entry into force − on paper or in electronic form).
According to experts, the Board’s decision will have a positive influence on developing pedigree breeding and trade in pedigree stock in the Eurasian Economic Union countries. ■
