About 1,300 kilos of pork products without proof of origin, without label, without inspection identification and without invoice were seized September 5, during a joint operation by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), Federal Police, Sanitary Surveillance of Ribeirão Preto and the Coordination of Agricultural Defense (CDA) of the Secretary of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo.
The action was carried out after denouncing and investigating a place with irregular pig farming - without registration in the state defense -, clandestine slaughter and supply of the product in a restaurant in the municipality of Ribeirão Preto.
In the unregistered property, a creation was found with about 100 unregistered pigs with no confirmed origin. Rustic equipment was also found to slaughter the animals, precarious equipment for scalding and a cold room for storage.
Animals slaughtered on site were destined for the same owner's restaurant.
At the time, Mapa interdicted and fined the place of clandestine slaughter, the state agricultural defense issued an inspection term and fined the person responsible, accounting for a fine for each irregular animal, and the health surveillance seized the products and fined the restaurant.
The seized products will be disposed of correctly and the establishment will respond to the administrative process regarding deviations related to the structure and hygiene of the place.
Participating in the operation were federal agricultural inspectors and health inspection agents for products of animal origin, the Inspection Service for Products of Animal Origin and the Service for Inspection and Enforcement of Traffic and Irregular Trade, veterinarians from the health surveillance of Ribeirão Preto, state inspectors of agricultural defense and federal police. ■
