Last Tuesday the first shipment of Mexican bananas bound for the Chinese market was loaded in the Mexican Port of Manzanillo.

Topics: MEXICO    SHIP    BANANA    CHINA

The shipment consists of 49 tons of bananas produced in the state of Colima.

Mexico has more than 5,700 hectares that produce bananas, more than 1,570 of which are located in Colima, the fourth entity with the highest volume of production of this fruit in the entire national territory.

More than 30 production sites have been certified as free of banana moko production: 22 in Chiapas, 14 in Colima, and 1 in Tabasco.

The president of the state, Ignacio Peralta, congratulated the parties involved in achieving this milestone. He said China was a huge and attractive market and that being able to export to this market would expand the commercial expectations, not only of Colima but of the entire country in general.

He also said that the Chinese market was increasingly more interested in Mexico's production and that Manzanillo could play a fundamental logistic role in strengthening these relationships.
