All cattle holders in the country must make the declaration to the Livestock Comptroller Division (Dicose), Uruguayan Minister of Livestock, Fernando Mattos said.

The Minister of Livestock, Fernando Mattos, highlighted the importance of having up-to-date information to make decisions. Mattos pointed out that all persons who own cattle, whether cattle, sheep, horses, goats or swine, are obliged to make the declaration.
The information, which will make it possible to know the number of animals in the fields of the national territory and their characteristics, is essential to develop the livestock policy, he explained.
"These are important data in this situation of drought that we are going through," he considered.
There are two ways to make the declaration.
The first, electronically, entering the website of the National Livestock Information System (SNIG) . Those who opt for this format may complete it between July 1 and 31, according to the schedule set by the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP).
The hierarch urged users to adopt this route, since it allows data to be collected more quickly and facilitates its processing. In addition, it is more comfortable for the producer, since he can do it without moving.
Likewise, he recalled that companies that carry out commercial or intermediation activities, dairy, fattening pens, quarantiners, sheep compartments, farms interdicted for animal health, as well as equine owners, to whom this document was incorporated, are obliged to complete the electronic form. anus.
The director of the SNIG, Gabriel Osorio, indicated that a username and password are required to carry out the procedure. He added that the procedure is simple and consists of four steps: request the password, enter the system, complete the declaration and pay online.
Likewise, he informed that those who need support will be advised at the Dicose coordinating offices.
The second way to make the declaration is by means of a paper form, which must be presented at the SNIG offices in Montevideo, or at the Dicose coordinators, at the Police Headquarters in the interior of the country.
