Production volume is projected to grow steadily from the second quarter towards the end of the year. It was stated at a meeting on poultry farming development, chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dzhambulat Khatuov.
The industry has been rapidly developing in recent years. The share of poultry in total livestock production in 2020 amounted to 43.1%. Farms produced 6.7 million tonnes of poultry (live weight at slaughter) and 44.8 billion eggs, which is higher than in 2019.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia ensures all the facilities for the development of highly efficient and competitive domestic poultry farming, including state support measures.
Meanwhile, import substitution of breeding material remains relevant. Russian scientists have already created a breed of meat chickens with high economic efficiency. ■
