Putin says government to continue subsidies to agriculture

The government will continue granting subsidies to agricultural producers, but Russia also needs a program to boost the processing sector, President Vladimir Putin said.

"We subsidize and will keep on subsidizing, but it would be better to focus what we produce on development of livestock breeding.

"We need to solve the problem of providing our market with home-made beef. We plan to sell more than we buy in the nearest future,” he said. “We need a program to support the processing industry."
