Saudi Arabia bans importing live birds from Bulgaria due to bird flu

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced a temporary ban on importation of live birds, hatching eggs and chicks from Dobrich Province, Bulgaria.

This is due to highly pathogenic avian influenza.

The ministry said that the ban was based on a warning issued by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) which reports on the emergence of cases of bird flu in that country.
