Seafood exports from Vietnam reached $6.57 billion

In 2015, total seafood exports from Vietnam reached $6.57 billion, down 16.1% compared with 2014.

The seafood businesses have had a difficult year, export sales decreased by factors related to importing markets: the average import prices fell, currency fluctuations reduced demand and increased competitive pressures. So seafood import operations for export processing service also quieter than in 2014.

Ssix leading shrimp exporters to the U.S. in November 2015 were India, Indonesia, Thailand, Ecuador, Mexico and Vietnam, similar to 2014, except as Vietnam has surpassed Ecuador to become No.4.

Indian shrimp exports to the U.S. increased 27.3% yoy to reach 12,571 tons. Mexico saw an impressive growth rate 67.6%, from 3,248 tons to 5,443 tons. Indonesia's exports to the U.S. rose 7.8%, Vietnam and Thailand 18.3% 15.8%.

Ecuador's exports fell by 0.32% from 6512 tonnes to 6491 tonnes from the same period, and the country became the 5th largest source of U.S. shrimp.
