Turkey to fine suppliers of unsafe foods to Russia
Deputy Minister of Turkey’s Food, Agriculture and Livestock Nusret Yazici said that at the meeting with Head of Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) Sergey Dankvert as reported by the press service of the Russian regulator.
"The products recognized as unsafe will be utilized while the violators will be fined," Yazici was quoted as saying.
Also, the sides agreed to organize the visit of a group of Russian experts to Turkey to study the state of the country’s system of food production tests.
Russia banned imports of bell pepper, pomegranates, aubergines, lettuce, Iceberg lettuce, marrows and pumpkins from Turkey due to phytosanitary considerations in the spring of 2016. ■
