Alstom has secured a significant contract with the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) for the Bengaluru Metro Phase 2 expansion.

This contract, valued at 96.2 million euros, encompasses the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a fully automated Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling system for Reach 6, 2A, and 2B of Phase 2.
Additionally, the agreement includes personnel training and five years of annual maintenance.
The Bengaluru Metro Phase 2 expansion will significantly enhance connectivity across the metropolitan region by linking critical junctions such as Silk Board, KR Puram, and Kempegowda International Airport.
Reach 6 will establish vital connections from Bannerghatta Road to Nagavara, with interchanges at key points like MG Road and Jayadeva Hospital, facilitating seamless travel for commuters.

Key highlights of the solutions to be delivered include Alstom’s world-leading CBTC technology, full-height platform screen doors (PSDs) for enhanced passenger safety, and Alstom’s predictive maintenance tool – HealthHub.
These solutions, combined with Alstom’s rail cyber security expertise, will ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of Bengaluru’s metro operations.
This contract marks Alstom’s third collaboration with BMRCL, further solidifying its position as a trusted partner in India’s metro rail development.
Previously, Alstom provided traction and power supply electrification for the Phase 2 extension and delivered the U200 signalling and telecommunications solution for Phase 1. ■
