Bank of Scotland most complained-about bank

Bank of Scotland, Barclays Bank and Lloyds Bank are the three most complained-about financial companies in the United Kingdom so far this year.

The Financial Ombudsman Service took on a total of 173,994 new cases in the first half of 2015, an increase of 8% on the second half of 2014.

For the Bank of Scotland 20,288 cases were received, for Barclays Bank 20,021 and for Lloyds Bank 19,818 cases. On the fourth and fifth spots are HSBC Bank and National Westminster Bank.

Complaints about payment protection insurance (PPI) made up more than half of the total, adding to more than 94,000 but this is 10,000 down on the number received in the second half of last year.

The best companies, with the lowest number of cases were Telefonica Insurance (32), Amigo Loans (32) and Gregory Pennington (33).
