GE finalizes deal with Antonov and Ukrzaliznytsia

General Electric (GE) signed a memorandum on cooperation with Ukrainian state-owned companies Antonov aircraft manufacturer and Ukrzaliznytsia railways.

Volodymyr Omelyan, Ukraine's Infrastructure Minister, was quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency as saying: "On the basis of the Infrastructure Ministry, we sign two strategic and political documents on cooperation with GE. It is not a sudden decision.

"We have been scrutinizing the positions of all global players. We understand that GE is a company #1 in the world producing diesel locomotives", the Minister said.

The signed document paves the way for further strategic cooperation in making locomotives in Ukraine.
