Gmail, YouTube and Google go down for thousands after system crash

The apps include Gmail, Google Drive and You Tube as well as the site's main search engine used regularly by millions.

Outage tracking website DownDetector logged tens of thousands of issues just after 11.40am recording a huge spike with users commenting that cloud services were not functioning and Google accounts temporarily unavailable.

The Daily Star, part of the Reach media group which owns TeessideLive, reported Gmail users are receiving a “Temporary Error” message.

"It reads: "We’re sorry, but your account is temporarily unavailable. We apologise for the inconvenience and suggest trying again in a few minutes.
