A new chain of stores was brought to the attention of the control teams of the Commissariat for Consumer Protection of Bucharest (CPCMB) on November 2, 2021.

Four of the largest stores of the Mega Image chain, part of Ahold Delhaize group, were checked to verify the way in which the legislation in force in the field is complied with, respectively the stores from Domenii Square, Ion Mihalache Blvd., South Square and one of the points of thing on Colentina Road.
Following the inspection, serious irregularities were recorded, which led to contravention fines totaling 93,000 lei (18,784.91 euros) and ordering important complementary measures , as follows:
- permanent cessation of marketing and withdrawal from human consumption of all non-compliant food products identified in the 4 stores
- temporary cessation of service in the shop windows assisted, showcases with frozen products, those with hot products, those with refrigerated products, bakery areas in all 4 units
- proposal to close the unit for a maximum of 6 months for all 4 units .
The most frequent deviations from the legislation in force, found by the CPCMB commissioners were:
- the presence of beetles in the area of ​pastry marketing
- the presence of traps for rodents
- the marketing of vegetables, fruits and products with organoleptic changes in appearance, color, consistent, being unfit for human consumption
- marketing of products with the expiration date of consumption exceeded,
- noncompliance with the storage temperature of hot products, of at least +60 degrees C, in the gastro area,
- failure temperature indicated by the manufacturers for a range of food
- trays for baking bread showed debris and the oven was not cleaned properly, also the rod and showcase hot were not cleaned
- one of the districts bakery (with individual servers that customers the area of ​​unpackaged products), it was found: the presence of dust and spider webs at the top of the display cases, and the drawers where the products are displayed had a coarse layer of food debris
- the pipes through which the coolant flows shows visible oxidation and ice deposits
- the existence of fans of refrigeration units as well as unhygienized refrigeration units,
- the existence of products on sale, in the assisted display case, of unlabeled products with the opening date in order to establish their conformity
- in the assisted display cases containing sausages / cheeses / meat bulk refrigerated, bulk smoked meat, bakery display racks and confectionery storage space, were found:
- the presence of rust,
- exfoliated paint
- dead and frozen insects,
- oxidized areas,
- accumulation of water from the improper functioning of refrigeration unit
- liquid from packaged meat products,
- the presence of dust and other impurities, in a thick layer, on shelves and fans,
