Telecom Egypt renewed an agreement allowing the mobile operators to use its international gateway service for four years.
Telecom Egypt is 80% owned by the government and holds a 45% stake in Vodafone Group Plc's local unit, which the government had announced in September it would be selling.
The government had recently approved a unified license that allows Telecom Egypt to provide mobile phone services, and the country's existing mobile carries, Mobinil, Vodafone and Etisalat to provide landline services. ■
