The 50 store closures, should the proposals go ahead, would occur between now and March 2018 and are a mix of Thomas Cook and Co-operative Travel branded stores.

The stores which are affected are either in close proximity to other stores or are located where a decline in footfall has impacted profitability.

Thomas Cook stores remain an important channel to showcase its holiday offering and provide expertise and reassurance to customers.

In 2017, 47 percent of Thomas Cook holidays were booked in store while online sales in the UK grew by 27 percent, demonstrating further progress in Thomas Cook’s strategy to become an omni-channel travel business.
