Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobile posts record production numbers

The Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobile (TPCA) plant announced the production results for the past year.

220,606 vehicles were assembled at the plant’s production line in 2016, which is the highest number since 2011. Production remained at a similar level (+ 0.7%) in comparison with the previous year.
Toyota’s Aygo is responsible for the largest percentage of vehicles to leave the production lines 2016 at 40% (88,505 units), followed by Peugeot 108 with 30% (66,534 units) and Citroen C1 with 30% (65,567 units).
Thirty percent of the vehicles produced at TPCA in the year 2016 were equipped with right-hand drive, same as in the previous year and the number of cars with automatic transmission were also comparable to last year with 29,876 units, which corresponds to 13.5 percent of the total number of cars.
180,975 cars had the efficient engine 1.0-l under its hood, which amounts to a full 82 percent, whereas the number of vehicles equipped with a 1.2-l engine increased to 39,631 units, which represents more than a four percent increase.
In the same fashion, the five door car body variation in 2016 (87.1% - 192,205 units) lead over the three-door variation (12.9% - 28,401 units).
The ranking of the countries where most cars produced at TPCA travel to, first place goes to the United Kingdom with 29% (63,987 units), followed by France with 17.4% (38,345 units) and Italy 13.2% (29,046 units).
The top five countries are joined by Germany with 9.8% (21,541 units) and the Netherlands 8.1% (17,831 units).
The most popular colour for customers is white with 36.8% (81,271 units), next in line, is red (16.8% - 37,009 units), metallic black (9.9% - 21,905 units), metallic silver ( 9.4% - 20,759 units), and metallic dark gray (8.8% - 19,484 units).
Also, the two-colour combinations (with a colour-coded roof), which is a specialty for the second generation of city cars, which began production in 2014 at TPCA are rising in popularity. ■
