Financiers of the Provincial Command of Foggia, following an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Foggia, have performed 8 personal precautionary measures (2 house arrest and 6 disqualifications) against public administrators and persons in charge of public service of the Municipality of Peschici, as well as entrepreneurs and professionals.
In particular, the GIP of the Court of Foggia ordered the precautionary measure of house arrest against 2 managers of the Gargano Municipality; for the remaining 6 suspects the disqualification measure was applied, for a duration of 12 months, from public offices or public services (for a municipal manager and a municipal technical instructor), from the possibility of contracting with the public administration (for two entrepreneurs) and from the exercise of the profession (for two lawyers).
The precautionary measure came at the end of investigations by the judicial police which made it possible to collect "serious indications of guilt" in relation to the commission of various crimes against the Public Administration and the public Faith by public officials or persons in charge of public service, entrepreneurs and professionals with regard to:
the issue of maritime state-owned concessions through the formation of ideologically false acts;
to the alteration of the regular functioning of the procedure for the award and execution of "urban redevelopment" works, worth approximately 100 thousand euros, through both the production of false documentation during the tender, and the omission, by the RUP, of the due verifications at the time of awarding the tender and during construction on the actual execution of the contracted works;
to the conferment of professional appointments for about 130 thousand euros on the basis of false certificates and declarations and in conflict with the interests of the local authority.
A request for personal precautionary measures against the suspects was therefore put forward by the Public Prosecutor's Office - on the proposal of the investigators, which the GIP accepted, deeming that the serious indications of guilt and the precautionary requirements existed.
It is represented that the proceedings are pending in the preliminary investigation phase and that the suspects cannot be considered guilty until the final sentence.
The service activity carried out, under the direction and coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Foggia, confirms the commitment of the Guardia di Finanza to protect the financial interests of the State and local authorities, and in particular in checking the lawfulness of credit lines, public works and professional services by local authorities. ■
