ArcelorMittal Q2 profit, sales up

ArcelorMittal reported that its second-quarter net income attributable to equity holders of the parent increased to $1.86 billion from $1.32 billion, prior year.

Earnings per share was $1.83 compared to $1.29.

Second-quarter sales were $20.00 billion compared to $17.24 billion, previous year.

Sales were 16% higher primarily due to higher average steel selling prices, higher steel shipments, higher market-priced iron ore shipments and higher seaborne iron ore reference prices. Total steel shipments were 1.2% higher from previous year.
