Mothercare Q1 revenue flat as UK like-for-likes improve
Overall group performance was in line with expectations.
In its trading update, the company said its worldwide sales, comprising total international sales plus total UK sales, edged up 0.8% year-on-year in the 15 weeks ended July 8.
Total UK sales declined 1.8%, reflecting its ongoing store closure programme. UK like-for-like sales grew by 1.9%, however, compared to a 1.2% rise last year. Online sales in the UK grew by 3.3%.
International retail sales in actual currencies grew 2.2%, but at constant currencies fell 8.3%, primarily driven by continued weakness in the Middle East. ■
