Belgium industrial output stagnates in December

Industrial output increased 0.2% on an annual basis in December, down from November’s 3.7% increase.

According to Statistics Belgium, the reading reflected weaker gains in manufacturing output.

Mining and quarrying output was broadly stable.

On a seasonally-adjusted basis, industrial output fell 3.7% from a month earlier (November: +4.3% month-on-month s.a.).

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 1.4% in 2019, which is down 1.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 3.1% in 2020.
