Belgium industrial production growth expands in July

A month-on-month comparison shows that industrial production in Belgium rose a seasonally-adjusted 1.8% in July, matching June’s print (previously reported: +1.1% seasonally-adjusted).

The increase was driven by an acceleration in manufacturing growth and the mining and quarrying sub-sectors.

In annual terms, industrial production rose 3.0% in July, up from 2.7% in June (previously reported: +2.1% year-on-year).

Subsequently, annual average growth in industrial production rose from 3.4% in June to 3.5% in July.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 2.7% in 2018, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast.

For 2019, the panel sees industrial production growth moderating to 2.3%.
