Denmark consumer confidence eases marginally in October
In spite of the small decline, the consumer confidence index remains firmly entrenched above the crucial zero-point mark that separates optimism for pessimism among consumers, where it has been since the outset of the year.
The small dip came on the back of less positive views regarding households’ financial situation over the next 12 months, while consumers’ assessment of both the economy’s current and future situation also was less upbeat.
These deteriorations, however, were mostly offset by an improvement in consumers’ confidence regarding their current financial situation, which fed into a less negative propensity towards purchasing big-ticket items.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect private consumption to expand 2.3% in 2017, which is from up 0.2 percentage points last month’s forecast.
For 2018, panelists expect consumption to expand 2%, unchanged from last month. ■
