Droughts, floods cause 5 billion euros damage to Serbia
More than 70% of the losses are caused by drought and high temperatures, while the floods are the second biggest cause of damage to the Serbian economy, Trivan said, as quoted in a statement by the environment ministry.
Serbia plans to have in place by 2019 a scheme of national targets for lower greenhouse gas emissions by establishing long-term goals and monitoring and reporting on their implementation, Trivun said during the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 23) in Bonn, in Germany.
In May 2014 Southeastern Europe (SEE) was hit by devastating floods that cost around 1.5 billion euro to Serbia and 2 billion euro to Bosnia and Herzegovina. ■
