Employment in Slovakia increased

In July 2017 compared with July 2016, the employment in Slovakia increased in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 9,6%.

The employment increased in food and beverage service activities by 8%, accommodation by 6,7%, construction by 3,6%, industry by 3,3%, retail trade by 3,2%, information and communication by 3%, wholesale by 2,8%, transportation and storage by 2,6% and in selected market services by 0,6%.

In the first seven months of 2017 compared with the same period of 2016, the employment increased, on average, in accommodation by 8,8%, sale and repair of motor vehicles by 8,4%, food and beverage service activities by 8,3%, information and communication by 4,5%, transportation and storage by 3,9%, retail trade by 3,6%, selected market services by 3,3%, industry by 2,9%, wholesale by 2,7% and in construction by 1,5%.

In July 2017 compared with July 2016, the average nominal monthly wage increased in food and beverage service activities by 10,7% (reached EUR 433), retail trade by 7,4% (EUR 683), transportation and storage by 6,6% (EUR 909), wholesale by 4,9% (EUR 907), industry by 4,7% (EUR 1 015), selected market services by 3,8% (EUR 884), accommodation by 3% (EUR 687), construction by 2,3% (EUR 679) and in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 2,2% (EUR 966).

It decreased in information and communication by 2,6% (EUR 1 619).

In July 2017, the average real monthly wage grew, year-on-year, in food and beverage service activities by 9,3%, retail trade by 6%, transportation and storage by 5,1%, wholesale by 3,5%, industry by 3,3%, selected market services by 2,4%, accommodation by 1,6%, construction by 0,9% and in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 0,8%. A decline was registered in information and communication by 3,9%.

Over the first seven months of 2017, compared with the same period of 2016, the monthly wage increased, on average, in food and beverage service activities by 9,2% (reached EUR 428), retail trade by 7,6% (EUR 667), transportation and storage by 7,2% (EUR 891), industry by 4,6% (EUR 1 017), wholesale by 4,3% (EUR 890), selected market services by 4,3% (EUR 883), sale and repair of motor vehicles by 4% (EUR 957) and in construction by 2,8% (EUR 653).

It decreased in information and communication by 3,6% (EUR 1 673). In accommodation it remained unchanged (EUR 657).

The real monthly wage increased, year-on-year, in food and beverage service activities by 8,2%, retail trade by 6,6%, transportation and storage by 6,1%, industry by 3,6%, wholesale and in selected market services equally by 3,3%, sale and repair of motor vehicles by 3% and in construction by 1,8%.

A decline was registered in information and communication by 4,6% and in accommodation by 1%.
