French consumer confidence drops but less than expected

French consumer confidence dropped less than expected in June, statistics agency Insee said.

The monthly consumer confidence indicator fell further below the long-term average of 100, to 97 in June from 98 in May - its highest level since October 2007.

Consumers polled by Insee were gloomier in June about their future financial situation and their ability to make large purchases.
