Germany wholesale price inflation eases in March

Germany's wholesale price inflation eased for the first time in five months in March, data from Destatis showed.

Wholesale prices rose 4.7% year-over-year in March, slower than the 5.0% climb in February, which was the highest rate of increase since August 2011. The measure has been rising since October 2016.

The annual increase in March was mainly driven by a 16.9% surge in prices of solid fuels and mineral oil products.

On a monthly basis, wholesale prices showed no variations in March, after a 0.5% gain in the preceding month.
