In November, consumer prices in Hungary were 0.5% higher on average than a year earlier.

The highest price rise was recorded for alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Motor fuel prices decreased significantly.
Consumer prices increased by 0.5% on average. Food prices rose by 2.0%, and within this, the prices of seasonal food items (potatoes, fresh vegetables and fruits) were up by 21.4%, edible oil prices by 12.9%, sugar prices by 4.3% and egg prices by 2.6%, while the price of milk was cut by 9.5% and cheese prices by 7.5%.
The prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco went up by 3.7%, those of consumer durables by 2.0%, service prices by 1.4% and clothing and footwear prices by 0.4% on average. The prices of electricity, gas and other fuels were cut by 0.3% on average, and within this, the price of butane and propane gas by 12.8%.
Consumers paid 4.5% less for other goods (including pharmaceutical products, motor fuels, household products and recreational goods) and, within this, 12.6% less for motor fuels.
In November 2015 compared to October 2015
Consumer prices were unchanged on average. Food prices rose by 0.1%, and within this, the price of sugar by 1.5%, that of poultry meat by 0.9%, milk prices by 0.7% and the price of bread by 0.5%.
Price decreases were measured among others in case of chocolate and cocoa (1.3%), cheese (0.9%) and pork (0.4%). Clothing and footwear prices increased at the highest rate (0.7%).
The prices of consumer durables were up by 0.3% and those of alcoholic beverages and tobacco as well as electricity, gas and other fuels by 0.1%.
The prices of services were reduced by 0.2%, within which those of recreational services by 3.3%. The prices of other goods were unchanged on average, within which group those of motor fuels decreased by 0.2%. ■
