Japan supermarket sales rise in July

Japan's supermarket sales recovered in July, data from the Japan Chain Stores Association showed.

Supermarket sales, after adjustment, increased 0.2 percent in July from a year ago, reversing a 0.5 percent drop in June. Before adjustment, sales declined 0.9 percent annually in July.

On a monthly basis, supermarket sales advanced 4.8 percent.
