In February 2022, exports amounted to EUR 3.6 billion and imports to EUR 4.2 billion, compared with previous February exports grew by 18.7% and imports by 50.3%.

The result can be attributed to larger trade with EU Member States as well as with non-member countries.
In February 2022, Slovenia exported EUR 3.6 billion and imported EUR 4.2 billion of goods. The value of exports was 18.7% higher and of imports 50.3% higher than in February 2021. The values of exports and imports were also higher than the average value of monthly exports and imports in 2021 (exports by 8.4% and imports by 19.6%).
The export-import ratio was 85.2%. External trade deficit was recorded. It amounted to EUR 0.6 billion.
Slovenia recorded approximately two thirds of total exports with EU Member States. The value of exports amounted to EUR 2.4 billion, 21.0% more than in February 2021. The share of total imports to EU Member States was a little less than two thirds, as imports amounted to EUR 2.6 billion, 32.4% more than in February 2021.
Slovenia’s external trade with EU non-member countries was also higher than in February 2021. Exports to those countries amounted to EUR 1.2 billion (14.2% more), and imports to EUR 1.5 billion (95.7% more). Regarding the increase in imports from non-member countries, it is worth mentioning that imports from those countries in February 2021 were the lowest in the whole year.
An important share of value in trade with EU non-member countries were operations involving processing1. Exports excluding transactions involving processing to EU non-member countries amounted to EUR 0.7 billion and were 17.0% higher than a year ago, while imports excluding transactions involving processing amounted to EUR 0.8 billion and were 51.2% higher than a year ago.
In the first two months of 2022, Slovenia’s exports amounted to EUR 7.0 billion and imports to EUR 8.1 billion. Exports and imports were higher than in the same period of 2021, exports by 19.3% and imports by 50.8%.
External trade deficit amounted to EUR 1.0 billion in that period, while the export-import ratio was 87.2%. ■
