Spain producer prices fall most since 2009

Spain's producer prices declined at the fastest pace in more than six years in April, the statistical office INE said.

Producer prices declined 6.1 percent year-on-year in April, after easing 5.6 percent in March. This was the biggest fall since July 2009, when prices slid 6.7 percent.

Energy prices plunged 19.9 percent and intermediate goods prices fell 2.8 percent. Meanwhile, consumer goods prices remained flat and capital goods prices moved up 0.7 percent.

On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped 0.1 percent, reversing a 0.6 percent rise in the prior month.
