5.6 earthquake rocks Java, Indonesia

A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale hit Java, Indonesia, at 8.56 am.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement, the earthquake occurred at 112 kilometre south of Tasikmalaya, Indonesia.

However, it posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said.
