Air New Zealand flight makes emergency landing in Auckland

A plane has landed safely on Auckland Airport after the pilot called for assistance when a smoke warning light came on.

A full emergency was declared at the airport, which happens when a plane attempting to land experiences an issue.

An Air New Zealand spokeswoman said flight NZ8109, travelling from Auckland to Palmerston North, returned to Auckland after a smoke indicator light illuminated.
