Magnitude 5.2 earthquake strikes near Taumarunui, New Zealand

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake has struck the central North Island on Sunday afternoon, setting off over 11,000 "felt it" reports.

The earthquake hit at a depth of 23 kilometres around 45km southwest of Taumarunui at 4:47pm.
