On April 18, the installation of the electronic barrier on the Polish-Russian border has started.

The contractor, after prior approval of the design documentation by the Border Guard, started work in the area of ​​Border Guard Posts in Bezledy and Sępopol.
The first works in the strip of the border road include the foundation of camera poles and the installation of power and transmission cables.
The construction of the electronic barrier will last until 30 September this year. and will cover the entire land border with the Russian Federation (199 km long).
About 2,000 camera poles, 3,000 video cameras and 700 km of power, transmission and detection cables will be installed on 12 functional sections.
The contractor, TELBUD SA, is simultaneously carrying out works related to the construction of the Supervision Center in Kętrzyn (Warmia-Mazury Branch of the Border Guard), a place for 24-hour service of the electronic barrier. There will be 12 operator stations.
Over PLN 373 million was contracted for the performance of all works planned under the contract signed on December 9, 2022 (including PLN 42 million for paving the land on selected, priority sections of the border).
The purpose of the investment is to ensure the detection of all events related to border crime, in particular with unregulated migration and smuggling of goods.
The architecture and functioning of this security system will guarantee the automated continuity and effectiveness of monitoring and protection of the state border, as well as the recognition and identification of threats and the arrest of their perpetrators, as well as allow for the collection of evidence.
The construction of the electronic barrier is a result of the entry into force of the Act on the construction of state border security, which came into force on November 4, 2021. The Act defines the rules for the construction of state border security, which is also the external border of the European Union. and effective investment. ■
