Serbia building barbed wire border fence, media reports

Serbia has started erecting a barbed wire fence at its southern border with North Macedonia, with the goal of blocking migrants from entering the country without a visa, according to reports from news agency AFP, local media outlets in Belgrade and Radio Free Europe.

Local media quoted statements from Presevo Mayor Sciprim Arifi, who said the construction of the fence is part of a deal with the European Union. Thus far, however, Serbian authorities have not confirmed the news.
