Sunwing flight bound for Calgary makes emergency landing in Tennessee

A flight heading to Calgary from Cancun, Mexico was forced to make an emergency landing in Memphis, Tenn., yesterday after smoke was reported in the cabin.

Sunwing flight WG596 was diverted to the U.S. after it is believed a passenger's vape pen discharged accidentally, the airline's representatives said in a statement Tuesday evening.

The flight was scheduled to arrive in Calgary at 7:45 p.m.

No passengers or crew members were hurt in the incident, and there was no damage to the aircraft, the statement said.

The airline said that it is dispatching a plane from Toronto to Memphis to bring the passengers home.
