U.S. F/A-18 jet crashes in California

A U.S. Navy F/A-18E fighter jet crashed in southern California during a training mission on Tuesday and the pilot ejected safely, local media reported.

The single seat Super Hornet from Naval Air Station Lemoore, located in California's Central Valley, crashed at around 10:10 a.m. (1810 GMT) in Kern County.

The pilot was released from a local hospital after a medical check. The crash is under investigation.
