U.S. to withdraw all forces from Afghanistan in 14 months

The United States and NATO will withdraw all troops in Afghanistan within 14 months if the Taliban upholds its commitments, says a joint statement released by the U.S. and the Afghan governments today.

The agreement was released ahead of a signing ceremony between the U.S. and the Taliban in Qatar's capital Doha.

The U.S. would initially reduce its forces in Afghanistan to 8,600 within 135 days of the U.S. Taliban agreement.
