During this period, the Revithoussa Terminal (Agia Triada entry point) served as the primary gateway for natural gas entry into the country, while the flows at the Sidirokastro entry point nearly doubled compared to the same period last year.
According to DESFA data, the domestic consumption of natural gas in Greece experienced a decline of 21.74% during the first half of 2023, totaling 23.72 Terawatt hours (TWh), compared to 30.31 TWh in the corresponding period of the previous year.
On the other hand, natural gas exports witnessed an increase of 15.03%, amounting to approximately 9.9 TWh compared to the previous year.
The quantities of natural gas imported into the country from the Revithoussa LNG Terminal (Agia Triada entry point) amounted to 55.5% of the total imports, indicating a 7.87% increase compared to the first half of 2022.
Specifically, approximately 17.3 Terawatt hours (TWh) of LNG were unloaded from 26 tankers originating from 6 different countries. Among these LNG quantities, 41.38% came from the USA, totaling 7.16 TWh. Russia ranked second with imports of 3.17 TWh, followed by Egypt (3.02 TWh), Algeria (2.48 TWh), Norway (0.97 TWh), and Spain (0.51 TWh).
In regards with the contribution of the remaining entry points, a significant decrease of 45.85% was recorded in the imports from the Sidirokastro entry point, constituting 21.44% of the total imports (7.22 TWh).
The Nea Mesimvria entry point, responsible for gas delivery through the TAP pipeline, accounted for 20.14% of imports (6.78 TWh). Additionally, Kipi of Evros (Greek-Turkish borders) covered 2.92% of imports (0.98 TWh).
In terms of natural gas consumer categories, power producers continue to record the highest consumption, covering 63.4% of domestic demand with 15.04 TWh out of a total consumption of 23.72 TWh.
Natural Gas consumption by industries and CNG vehicle refueling stations, directly connected to the NNGTS, experienced a noteworthy 14.31% increase, amounting to 1.91 TWh, equivalent to nearly 8.06% of domestic demand.
