Huge fraud in renewable energy sector in Italy

Italian police authorities arrested on Wednesday 17 people accused of misappropriating 143 million euros in public funds in the renewable energy sector.

According to official information released by several media, some 200 Financial Guard members and police officers from Pavia province participated in the raid, and as a result, 11 people were imprisoned and six were put under house arrest.

In addition to the arrests and fifty raids in seven Italian regions, police forces preventively seized bank deposits, shares in companies and other properties of those investigated, estimated at more than 140 million euros, the same sources stated.
