The Atom is a car designed to the very highest specifications we can achieve. Steel chassis to ensure torsional rigidity and safety. Inboard, pushrod operated suspension, now with anti-squat and anti-dive designed to work comfortably on the road as well as well as flat out on the track. Something that Ariel spent years developing. Composite body panels, alloy machinings, LED lighting, all to reduce weight. And at its heart the Honda K20C1 2 litre turbo engine giving power, reliability and peace of mind. Road or track.
No roof, no doors, no cupholders. Ariel really believes less is more, form should follow function. So Ariel distilled the Atom down to the purest essence of light weight, performance and agility if you don’t need it Ariel leave it out. But what you do get is meticulously designed, beautifully made and assembled with care and love. An Atom is an incredibly special thing and something Ariel is justifiably proud of. At Ariel they pride ourselves on being small, the advantages it brings, the quality they can achieve and on the friendships we make. Ariel doesn’t have a production line and they don’t have robots, they don’t even have an automated telephone system that makes you press buttons. Just good old fashioned, British skill and handbuilt craftsmanship. Each Ariel is built by one technician who carries the assembly right through to road test and personal sign off. Only when he’s happy will he put his name on it. ■
