Galatea is the first 40 metre sportster by Heesen and a beautiful way to expand your horizons in luxurious comfort. Heesen really pushed the boundaries of quality, performance and design with their new blue waters home.

Heesen is renowned for building aluminium yachts where performance is a priority and Galatea is the only large sports yacht built to Dutch quality standards. Working in collaboration with Van Oossanen Naval Architects, Galatea was engineered to deliver optimized hydrodynamic performance while cruising to her 2,200 nautical miles distant destination. With twin MTU engines powering her to impressive 28 knots, Galatea has outstanding handling in all sea conditions.
Even during high-speed turns, Galatea’s Active Humphree Interceptors provide precise auto-correction for the smoothest possible ride. They also maximize fuel efficiency, enabling faster acceleration and tighter turns. Two zero speed Seakeeper gyros enhance maneuverability and keep her on an even keel at anchor. Galatea also has a specialized seawater cooling system that eliminates the need for large fans – she slices through the water with the lower-decibel acoustic qualities of a displacement yacht.
Heesen perfected the process of weight reduction. Marble and stone are honed to a thickness of just four millimeters, solid wood is shaved down to an exquisite veneer and furniture is custom-made in-house. Thus, Galatea combines performance and luxury.
Galatea’s open flybridge extends to almost half the length of the yacht. This huge 85 square meter space includes a helm station and shaded dining area. Protected from the breeze by glass side panels, the dining area features wraparound seating in polished teak and supple cream leather. An outdoor cinema screen sheltered from glare by the radar arch is linked to the yacht’s Kaleidescape film server. Underway, guests can relax on loose chairs, sofas and sun-loungers with the yacht controlled via the flybridge helm station.
While a sports yacht is about fun, on Galatea it is also about comfort and space – inside and on deck. The huge forward sunpads are large enough for all guests to relax together underway, in port or at anchor. Gyro stabilizers keep the yacht remarkably steady, virtually eliminating any rolling movement. The saloon has a bright elegant atmosphere and opens out through full–height glazed doors to an aft deck dining area with banquette sofas and uninterrupted panoramic views. ■
