Canopy by Hilton opens first property in New York State

Canopy by Hilton announced the opening of Canopy by Hilton Ithaca Downtown.

Owned and operated by Baywood Hotels, the seven-story, 131-room upper upscale property is located steps from Ithaca Commons and within minutes from Ivy League Cornell University and prestigious private school Ithaca College.

Canopy by Hilton Ithaca Downtownâ€™s design is inspired by the regionâ€™s lakes, waterfalls and forests, in addition to the local esteemed academic institutions.

The hotelâ€™s lobby, â€œCanopy Central,â€ offers exposed wooden beams and a central fireplace and the guestroom color schemes provide subtle nods to Cornell University and Ithaca College.

The property features contemporary touches, including floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city and industrial-style lighting fixtures, as well as modern residential design and state-of-the-art technology in the guestrooms.

Carefully curated artwork from Ithacaâ€™s historical society is also featured throughout the hotel.

The ground-floor Strand CafÃ©, which is named for the famed Strand Theatre that stood on the site of hotel from 1916 to 1979, specializes in â€œNew American Cuisine.â€ The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves items such as autumn harvest farms roasted chicken, house-made gnocchi and a curated collection of craft cocktails.

Signatures of the Canopy by Hilton brand, the property provides guests with a welcome gift a sample of local maple candies upon check-in and hosts a complimentary evening tasting each night that showcases local drinks and bites.

Canopy by Hilton Ithaca Downtown provides an array of amenities to suit guests who are looking to work, exercise and relax.

Canopy by Hilton Ithaca Downtown is located at 324 East State St., within walking distance of many local destinations and a short drive from Ithaca Tompkins County Regional Airport.
