Indonesia imposes safeguard tariff on aluminium foil

Indonesia has imposed safeguard tariffs on imports of aluminium foil to protect the domestic industry from a surge in imports.

A trade ministry statement said that the tariff is set at 6% from November 7th 2019, to November 6th 2020, and 4% from November 7, 2020 to November 6, 2021.

Mr Mardjoko, chairman of the Indonesia Trade Security Committee, said that “This decision allows the local aluminium foil industry to make structural adjustments to be able to compete with similar imported goods.”
