"There is a confirmation from our entire Government and the maximum collaboration from the agricultural world to collaborate with Albania for development and integration".

Thus the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida in his speech to the Italy-Albania Joint Economic Committee which took place September 27 at the Farnesina.
The minister illustrated the results of the mission he led in Tirana last March, on the occasion of which Italy signed a Memorandum of Understanding which identifies 14 areas of interest on which to work, including trade and investment opportunities for businesses, starting from the oil and wine sectors.
"We have implemented coordinated and joint action to develop the economies of the two Nations and which has brought important results in the oil sector, making our technologies available to Albanian companies to improve transformation, which is an essential element in production phase", explained Minister Lollobrigida.
"Furthermore, we have begun to think about a series of projects, including the hypothesis of creating a trade fair system in Tirana, in collaboration with the Italian one, to promote our productions in the Balkans.
"We believe in the role of Albania as a central nation of that area, in a vision that also anticipates the critical issues of food chains which have proven to be one of the factors influencing the economy".
The minister then underlined the intention to implement joint work on research and training through agricultural and hotel institutes.
As for the protection of brands, the minister has made the Quality Control and Agri-Food Fraud Repression Inspectorate available to instruct Albanian staff and defend, also in a future perspective, the principle of product quality and create a solid protection network from any type of falsification and Italian sounding.
During the Italy-Albania Joint Economic Committee, the minister had the opportunity to meet the new counterpart of the Albanian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj. ■
