Lithuania signs agreement on acquiring 200 joint light tactical vehicles from U.S.

Lithuania has signed an agreement on acquiring 200 joint light tactical vehicles (JLTV) from the U.S. for 145 million euros (160 million U.S. dollars), the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense announced in a statement.

"The new tactical vehicles will strengthen the support for the Land Forces and Special Operations Forces as well as reinforce capabilities of intelligence, artillery and logistics," local media quoted Defense Minister Raimundas Karoblis as saying after the signing ceremony.

About 145 million euros will be allocated for the acquisition of JLTVs, equipment and weaponry complements, personnel training, spare parts, and sustainment in 2020-2024, the ministry said in the statement.
