The regulation means that electricity subsidies must now be given to electricity consumers throughout the country. The support is based on consumption during November–December 2022.
The background to the decision is that electricity prices were very high in all electricity price areas in Sweden during these months.
"The electricity subsidy for the whole country is a long-awaited relief for many households that are hit hard by high electricity prices. Through today's decision, the government's preparatory work to enable the payment of electricity subsidies to households throughout the country has been completed,"says Minister of Energy and Industry Ebba Busch.
"The Social Insurance Agency has very meritoriously paid out the electricity subsidy to households in southern and central Sweden. 98 percent of the payments are complete and have been made to the recipients' bank accounts.
"If you live in northern Sweden and have not yet registered your account with Swedbank's account register, I urge you to do so so that you can quickly and safely get your electricity subsidy deposited into the account when the payments begin in the spring of 2023," says Minister for the Elderly and Social Insurance Anna Tenje .
The regulation states, among other things, who is entitled to the support and with what support amount. Furthermore, it is clear which information the electricity network companies must report to Försäkringskassan in order for the support to be paid out.
The regulation enters into force on March 27, 2023, and the plan is for the Social Insurance Agency to begin payments in the spring of 2023. ■
