The idea of Windows SideShow-enabled notebook is kind of cool and we can imagine some good reason to have an addition LCD on a laptop, however there're no laptops with Sideshow. These days BenQ announced Q41, a SideShow-enabled notebook, the third of its kind. (I recall Asus was one, and I don't think of the third computer, although "the third" are words from Microsoft's blog).

So, what's in Q41? BenQ Joybook Q41 has a 14.1-inch screen (UltraVivid, as they call it) with the resolution of 1280x800 pixels, its heart is Intel Core 2 Duo, and the brain is Windows Vista residing in 2 GB of memory. Graphic is Intel's GMA X3100 with shared memory, maximum 358 MB; hard drive is 80 GB to 160 GB (slower version on 5400 rpm, of course), optical drive is either 24X DVD/CD-RW Combo or 8X Super Multi that supports Double Layer. For business people there are plenty of connectivity options: USB 2.0 (four times), FireWire, Ethernet, Modem, S-Video, and VGA.

There are also a built-in microphone, an ExpressCard Slot (reader for SD/MMC/MS/MS-Pro/xD memory cards), SPDIF connection shared with Headphone-out connector, and 1.3-megapixel web cam. The 4400-mAh battery should keep you going for about four hours. All that put together weight 1.8 kilograms.

The display on outer side is 2.5-inch color LCD and you can use it to access the Windows Media Player, the SlideShow Player to view your favourite photographs, or to run a game. Maybe the little bit more useful function is an RSS reader that shows news from your favourite website (read: new articles from poandpo.com). Managers will find access to calendar, emails, contact list, and PowerPoint presentation very useful. The auxiliary display can be used for VoIP: User can dial from the auxiliary display.

BenQ Joybook Q41 is nicely designed, all in black with a glossy belt and outside keys that are red, so it should fit nicely to any table during the business meeting.
